Based in London. Born in Cape Town.
Clifton Fourth espadrilles and Panama-style hats are handcrafted on Spanish and Ecuadorian shores and combine classic London and carefree Cape Town, inviting the spirit of summer to city standards.
Brand child of designer and devoted sun worshipper Laura, Clifton Fourth was inspired during her four years studying in Cape Town. With the city’s convergence of cosmopolitan chic and beach bum lifestyles, British-born Laura recognized the need to reconfigure her wardrobe to allow a graceful transition from beach-play to bar drinks in minimal time.
Upon her return to London, Laura acknowledged the same defining principle, the need for the ability to bring a hedonistic feel to a sophisticated city.
And so Clifton Fourth was born, transforming characteristically straightforward beach items into chic urban staples for men and women.
Accomplished artisans in northern Spain handcraft our espadrilles from genuine leather suede and pony-skin, encompassing a leather, cushioned insole and generous rubber sole to assure comfort and wellbeing.
Rural communities of artisans in Ecuador hand-weave our Panama-style hats using sustainably sourced Toquilla straw. The ancient and practiced techniques employed guarantee that they are of leading quality.
Clifton Fourth aims to revitalize the ethos of these traditional items, while upholding the craftsmanship and emanating the work of our artisans. In doing so, our dress-code definers swing you fluently through changes in situation and location.
Through understanding and functionality, our products are a staple to any urbane wardrobe.
